iBEAM Announces Streaming Content Agreement with Entertainment Boulevard

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- iBEAM Broadcasting Corporation announced a Web distribution agreement with Entertainment Boulevard, Inc. to bring on-demand, streaming content to Internet users via iBEAM's Edge Distribution Service.  The new technology will allow Entertainment Boulevard to offer a higher quality of streaming video, which will enhance the user experience. Under the agreement, iBEAM will transmit on-demand, streaming entertainment content provided by Entertainment Boulevard to a mass Internet audience through its satellite-based network.  Content to be broadcast includes streaming music videos, movie trailers, NetFomercials, and sports programming.

The partnership represents the latest in a series of targeted strategic alliances for iBEAM designed to introduce new technology and content to the Internet that will help refashion the global computer network as a viable and endlessly accessible medium for broadcast programming of all types. "We're happy to be working with Entertainment Boulevard and have the chance to not only reduce the cost but increase the quality of their distribution," said Peter Desnoes, president and CEO of iBEAM Broadcasting Corporation.  "Entertainment Boulevard is an exciting company that is doing great things with streaming entertainment content for the Internet. iBEAM's task will be taking their channels and making sure a wider audience can experience it without problems."

iBEAM Broadcasting uses satellite broadcast to deliver popular Internet traffic to iBEAM's network of MaxCaster servers located in Internet Service Providers, Cable Operators, or DSL Providers (collectively "ISPs") Points of Presence at the edge of the Internet.  The large scale, highly distributed nature of the iBEAM Network allows Internet Content Providers and Content Aggregators (collectively "ICPs") and ISPs to deliver streaming media to end users with a lower cost and better quality of service than can be achieved using existing, traditional Web infrastructure.

iBEAM provides delivery of high bit rate streams such as live Internet events, breaking news, and live concerts.  This new content delivery model provides subscribers to iBEAM-powered ISPs with guaranteed access to high-demand streaming content, without related network congestion or overload. "Our agreement with iBEAM will add efficiency to our network of channels," said Stephen Brown, CEO of Entertainment Boulevard.  "By strengthening our networks through iBEAM's satellite transmissions, our visitors can enjoy the content as a better overall experience without worrying about congestion and/or performance issues."
