LAS VEGAS, Nev.--Jan. 24, 2001 --

iBEAM Broadcasting Corp. has announced the release of Syndication Manager, a fully-integrated Internet-based application that gives media companies the power to set specific, business-based usage rules to control the distribution of their streaming media assets to multiple websites, and collect detailed usage data on their content.

Syndication Manager's advanced technology offers content owners and syndication companies the ability to grant or deny access to content based on business agreements, track content usage for each affiliate, and access detailed reports for billing or audience analysis. Since all content is hosted on and delivered from the iBEAM network, media companies are assured that all end-users receive consistent, high-quality, streams. Syndication Manager is built on top of iBEAM's intelligent streaming media network, a platform that enables other sophisticated streaming applications including targeted ad insertion, pay-per-view, interactive Webcasting and digital rights management.

Syndicating streaming content is different than syndicating text and graphics because it is not economically feasible to send duplicate copies of media files to each affiliate. The large media files also impose additional storage costs on the affiliates or the media company and the user experience can dramatically differ depending on which streaming network each affiliate uses. iBEAM Syndication Manager allows media companies to leverage a centralized content repository to manage affiliates access rights and ensure every consumer has a high-quality experience.

iBEAM's Syndication Manager application offers media companies the infrastructure necessary to improve their streaming business models. For example, a major media company could use the technology to syndicate a wide range of music content to leading portals and other sites without buying costly software solutions or incurring large labor and storage costs.

"Media companies have long recognized the economic benefits of syndicating content," said Peter Desnoes, president and CEO of iBEAM. "Now that streaming media is a widely accepted means of content distribution, media companies, syndicators and their customers and affiliates are demanding solutions that enable the syndication of their streaming content. Our Syndication Manager application offers the first practical method of giving media companies automated control of their streaming content across the Internet. It expands iBEAM's strategy of creating intelligent streaming services, such as ad insertion, digital rights management and pay-per-view -- the kind of services that are making streaming media a more profitable business for our customers."
